Local and Qualified Surveyors

Our highly qualified and experienced surveyors are at the heart of our service - they are experts in diagnosing and treating property preservation issues in all types of buildings, from domestic homes to commercial buildings and listed buildings. This is done through a damp and timber survey.

We have a number of qualified surveyors who are experts in finding the root cause of property preservation problems, working from our network of local branches.

As part of our commitment to bring through the next generation of professional experts, we also have several surveyors working towards their surveying qualifications.

All of our surveying teams receive continuous training to stay updated with the latest industry standards and technologies.

CSTDB (Certificated Surveyor of Timber and Dampness in Buildings)

Certificated Surveyor of Timber and Dampness in Buildings, or CSTDB is a nationally recognised qualification specialising in damp and timber problems found in buildings.

This qualification gives surveyors a sound knowledge of the construction of buildings and materials used, and the causes and effects of dampness. This includes being able to recognise moisture ingress in the form of penetrating damp, capillary moisture caused by rising damp, hygroscopic moisture, and atmospheric moisture and their associated problems.

They are experts in identifying different types of woodworm infestations, fungal decay and other issues relating to timber.

CSRT (Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatments)

Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatments, or CSRT is the original qualification for damp and timber surveyors, but since 2018 has now been updated to CSTDB. The original CSRT continues to be a recognised professional qualification in the property industry nationwide.

Using a CSRT or CSTDB qualified surveyor gives you peace of mind that a trained expert has fully assessed your property, and got to the root cause of the problem. All our surveyors are vetted to the highest industry standards.

CSSW (Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing)

Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing, or known as CSSW, is a qualification for experts diagnosing and designing solutions for water ingress in below-ground structures, such as basements and cellars.

A CSSW qualified professional is able to design a waterproofing system to British Standard 8102:2022 guidelines. Section 4.2 of BS 8102:2022 lays out guidelines that recommend that a waterproofing design specialist should be included as part of any underground structural waterproofing design plan at the design stage and they should meet the following criteria:

  • Be suitably experienced in dealing with the type and size of the project
  • Be capable of devising solutions that accommodate the projects needs and constraints
  • Provide information and guidance on the design, installation and future maintenance of the project

Peter Cox have a range of CSSW qualified surveyors operating from our network of local branches, meaning no matter where you are in the country, we have a local surveyor who can help design a basement waterproofing system.
